Teaching as Inquiry - Beginning of a new cycle

Teacher Goal:

Improve target students comprehension of what they read, particularly at sentence and paragraph levels

Teacher Next Steps:

- Set up modelling book

- Research how best to use Cloze reading activities

- Work out how to teach to students what good readers do.

Students Next Steps:

Improve comprehension and understanding of what they are reading through the application of known comprehension strategies.

Professional Support:

- Ask AT how she teachers her target group about what good readers do (I think she used a modelling book to do this)

- Use the internet to find information about how to use Cloze reading activities. 

- Talk to colleague about how she used Cloze activities in her class.  

- Read the support material from the STAR test as I believe this has some good info re next steps.
