Focus:
Managing Student Behaviour
Big Idea:

Key Ideas/Messages that informed/or challenge my teaching practice
  • Make note of how anxiety looks in each child in the class.
  • Function of behaviour - always think what are they doing it?
  • Tension reduction - re-establish relationships. Separate the behaviour from the student.
  • Take note of student behaviours. Small things. Helps to see patterns.
  • Behaviour plan - when identifying behaviour - be specific. Why are they doing it?
Implications/Actions for my teaching practice
  • What does anxiety look like in my students?
  • I need to ensure that when I am talking with students during tension reduction that I separate the behaviour from the student. Tell students how their behaviour affects other students. State what you see - don’t ask questions.
  • Create a behaviour plan for at risk students. S
Reflection on actions to share at next meeting
