Reflection - 01/08
Standard for the Teaching Profession 6: Teaching
The Deliberate Acts of Teaching describe the core actions we do when we teach:
Modelling
Prompting
Questioning
Giving Feedback
Telling
Explaining
Directing
Select 2 Deliberate Acts of Teaching and reflect/describe how you have used these today/yesterday/Tomorrow.
Today during during maths talk-up I used the act of questioning on multiple occasions. The aim was to prompt students to explain and justify their speaking so that others understood. For example - can you show me what you mean? How do you know? Can anyone think of another way of doing it?
Tomorrow I will be using modelling as a deliberate act of teaching. I will model to the students how to complete editing as part of the writing process. I will use an exemplar text that I have created, using this to show ho I would find and fix mistakes. I will use think alouds to make it clear to the students that steps that I am taking.
