Focus:
Student maths strategies/thinking and misconceptions
Big Idea:
Deliberate acts of teaching (maths)
Key Ideas/Messages that informed/or challenge my teaching practice
  • Thinking time is important to enable students to process problems in their own heads.
  • Often students can be influenced by others ideas.
  • Anticipation (pre-lesson). What strategies/solutions misconceptions will come through in the lesson. How can I plan for these? Map out possible strategies before hand.
Implications/Actions for my teaching practice
Every Thursday Room 2 has a whole class rich maths task. During my planning phase I need to ensure that I anticipate possible student strategies/solutions and misconceptions. This will help me to plan questions, look at ways to scaffold learners and address misconceptions.
