WHAT
Morning Session
Pre-History - looking at important dates and events leading up to the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Afternoon Session
The 3P's in education - Protection, Participation and Partnership
Protection - Actively protecting the language and culture
Participation - Calls on school to include Maori in the decision making process
Partnership - Includes working together with the Maori community to strengthen pathways to education success for Maori.
SO WHAT
What do you want the three P's to look like in your classroom?
As a team we got together and discussed the 3 p's in relation to our classes. We talked about some of the things that we are already doing, which followed onto some areas that we would like to further work on. 3 areas that we identified were - Pepeha - making this not just a once off, but having it as an ongoing part of our programme - Karakia - getting together as a team on a regular basis to practice our school waiatai and keep our tikanaga alive - Karakia - Bringing Karakia back into our programmes.
