Daily Reflection

26/04/2012

What am I proud of about today?

Today I got a huge thrill from watching the students create addition and subtraction strategy posters. Once complete, students were then required to 'teach' the strategy to a room 7 student using the poster. It was awesome to see them interact with the younger students and the act of articulating their ideas to someone else in a clear and easy to understand way was a powerful learning experience.
What didn't go so well?

Continual difficulties with a select few students. Why am i continuing to have difficulty with these students? I have tried diffierent teaching strategies to appeal to the range of learning preferences....

How could this be improved?

One technique that I have had success with in the past is to give these students increased responsibility and opportunities. One student has mentioned a strength in Te Reo so will look at getthing her to take an active roll in the delivery of our Te Reo unit. The other two students are boys who are right into their sport. Next fitness/P.e Session I will give these students the opportunity to officiate and control the game.
