Teacher as Inquiry - 1

Delivering
Learning
Put my plan into action. Monitor; collect evidence; write regular dated reflections; interpret data.  Plan next steps
Monitor students' progress towards identified outcomes and reflect on what this tells you.
Use this new information to decide what to do next to ensure continued improvement in student achievement and in your own practice.

How am I infusing my ideas into classroom practice? What evidence is there?
Students were given the opportunity to explore how they best learn, e.g auditory, visual or kinesthetic. This empowered them to think about what they can do to ensure their learning approach matches how they best learn.

Evidence – observation – one student approached me and requested to move his desk to enable him to see better in response to identifying his preference as a visual learner.

This knowledge also helped me to tailor my lessons to meet the needs of the students.  I have learned that most students are either visual or kinesthetic learners therefore I have been mindful of this when planning my lessons, for example making sure that all instructions are written on the active board so that students can see them and also come up and review them when unsure

What are the next steps I need to take? (Research, resources, activities)
Continue to explicitly teach strategies that students can use to increase comprehension and understanding. For example – use direct teaching to demonstrate note taking instead of passive listening.
