Daily Reflection

What am I proud of about today?
Guided reading and maths group work functioned more smoothly today. I believe this was partly due to the fact that students where given a choice at the start of the session about how we could decrease the noise level of independent workers. Students chose a positive reward to work towards.
What didn't go so well?
Two students are causing constant disruptions and are refusing to respond to directions
How could this be improved?
Removing one of the students from the normal classroom programme and giving them extra responsibility worked well last week. The strategy lost impetus however when I became too busy to regularly check on progress.
Tomorrow I wil try and give the student another independent task and organise a time for them to check in with me to answer any questions and review progress.
The other student comes to school unhappy and with a negative outlook on most aspects of classroom life.
Tomorrow I will take 5mins to talk to this student and ask her what I could o to make the classroom a more positive environment for her. I will also endeavor to talk to her brother's teacher as I have heard whisperings that there are some issues at home.
