Practising Teacher Criteria #6

Conceptualise, plan and implement an appropriate learning programme

Key Indicators:
The teacher:
  1. articulates clearly the aims of their teaching, gives sound professional reasons for adopting these aims,
and implements them in their practice
  2. through their planning and teaching, demonstrates their knowledge and understanding of relevant
    content, disciplines and curriculum documents
Reflective Question:

What do I take into account when planning programmes of work for groups and individuals?

I am a skilled planner and have taken time over the years to streamline and refine my planning practices. I use google sheets which enables me to plan across platforms and locations. My planning is linked to curriculum documents, but most importantly it is flexible and adaptable to ensure that I cater for all student needs. Each week when planning I always consider formative assessment that I have accumulated to determine what the students' next steps are. This enables me to ensure that my planning is in tune with where the students are at with their learning.

Where to Next?

Next year, through the power of Google Docs, I aim to be more collaborative when planning learning programmes with the rest of my team.
