Learning Walk - 26.03.2019
WHAT
Feedback:
- Clear, concise instructions during QCT
- Frequent reminders of expectations
- Maths games promoted problem solving and mathematical thinking
- New strategies to promote positive behaviour
- Good use of humour
SO WHAT
Next Steps:
- Too many instructions during maths learning time
- How do I vary programme when Ipads are not available?
- Writing answers on Whiteboard table instead of calling out during maths
- Share purpose of lesson with students - doesn't always need to be at the start.
- Make sure children can hear instructions when counting down.
- File boxes need to be kept in a more tidy state and items picked up off the floor
NOW WHAT
- Being concise with my instructions is something that I will need to continue to work on. Limiting instructions to only 2 or 3 things will help to keep them manageable.
- For maths warm-ups we have been using IPad games as a way of increasing engagement and promoting problem solving. Now that the students are used to these I plan to alternate between these and the hands on games that we learned earlier in the year
- Asking students at the end of lessons - what did you learn today? will help to make the purpose of what we do in maths more obvious for students. Doing this in the past has often led to to students tuning out before the lesson has even begun.
- Regular file box clean outs (and checks) will help to ensure that the are kept in a good condition. Could use awesome attitude as a motivator her.
