T.A.I Reflection - 13/09
Term 3 is drawing to a close and it is time to think about how I will wrap up my inquiry in Term 4. In the first weeks of the Term the big push will be on data collection in order to make OTJ's. This information will help to get a snapshot of where my students are at. I am particularly interested in seeing where my TAI target students are in relation to where they were at the beginning of the year. I am interested to see if there has been any progress in student's number sense, which will come through in their strategy levels and their ability to explain their thinking. Just from observations I have made during group sessions and independent tasks, I have seen an improvement in the way students are able to verbalise their mathematical thinking. The other thing I am interested to see is if there has been an improvement in how the students view themselves as mathematicians. Again, from observations I have noticed an improvement in the confidence of students and the increased level of engagement that students have towards our maths sessions. Students in my target group will re-take the maths survey in order to determine how they now feel about maths and their own mathematical abilities.
