WHAT
Includes zones of emotions. It is important to tell students that it is OK to feel these emotions.
The important message is to communicate to children that they can control their behaviours and the goal is to have a positive outcome for themselves and others around them. A positive outcome is when others feel positively about you.
Zone tools:
- Chill out chair
- Water Break
- Size of the problem. Is it a small problem with a big reaction? Or a big problem with a small problem?
- Be nice to yourself and or others.
- Superflex thinking - put yourself in other people's shoes. Try Something new
- Lazy 8 breathing - can do it on your hand
- 6 sides of breathing (shape breathing)
- Drop an anchor - timed one minute breathing as long and slow as you can
- Inner Coach/Inner critic -
- 5, 4, 3 ,2, 1 - look for 5 things, listening for 4 sounds, 3 things that you can touch
- Close your eyes - pick a colour - open your eyes and find things around the room of that colour.
