Reflection - 30.01.24
We had such an amazing day of learning with Angeline McDonald last week. A week down the track, what has really stuck with you? What are you most excited about moving forward?
The main thing that stuck with me is the idea that everyone has connections and whakapapa that extend beyond themselves. These connections are what make the students in my class who they are and impact on how they act and behave. I see enormous value in asking students about their connections, which is something I have begun doing. Students have a real sense of pride talking about who their family are and what they do. I have learned about a number of sibling connections throughout the school as a result. The next step from hear is for students to represent these connections visualy through a poster. These will be displayed on the wall (including my own) and use as a reference to extend these connections amoungst the class. This will then lead onto conversations about people that we want to make proud and who we can share our success with.
